As she drove, I was able to immerse myself in the details of my hometown. I felt like I could reach out and touch the sights of my youth. Literally. Truth be told, I could have gotten out and walked faster when I had my gimp hip. That’s because my mother was behind the wheel. And the only place she was driving me was crazy.
